Hole 3
Pro vision: Don’t forget the wind on this hole; it’s normally a head wind. Your goal here is to choose enough club to fly it over the bunkers at the Front of the green, it doesn’t matter where the pin position is, make the back of the green your goal. I don’t see many people getting up and down out of the two front bunkers; a two putt from the back of the green is much easier option. With a nice Tee shot and two putts, you’re going to make sure you move onto hole 4 with a smile, they call that momentum.

Hole 4
Pro Vision: Again we are faced with one of the more difficult holes on the course, Stroke index 3. Don’t forget Bogey on this hole is a good result. What is the best way to achieve this, you might ask. I would answer, play it as a Par 5, and lay the ball up at 80 meters for your second shot, just before the fairway bunker on the left. Then pitch your ball on the green with a PW or 9 Iron. 2 putts and the momentum continues. I haven’t seen many players with a high Handicap reaching this hole for 2 with ease; finishing in one of the 2 bunkers is a recipe for disaster. Just remember the quickest way to kill momentum is to keep trying things you cannot do, but think you can.

Hole 5
Pro vision: Not a lot of choice here with the Tee shot, normally a driver is needed to carry the ‘Heide’ on the left side of the hole, otherwise the landing area on the fairway is much too small. Play your second shot towards the Heide hill, trying to keep to the left side of the fairway. Leaving yourself about 120 meters to the green is the goal. Just remember when the flag is on the front of the green it’s a must to play your approach over the flag to insure yourself the chance for a 2 putt Par, yes that’s right a real Par…

Hole 6

Pro vision: Here we are, Stroke index no.1, the chance to show all your friends how good you are. You have already 10 points on the score card, you’re feeling good, but please don’t try and do something stupid and go for the green in 2 shots. Choose a club for your tee shot, which you can just carry, the top of the first hill, for some of you this is the driver but for most it’s a 5 wood or rescue/Hybrid. Then pitch the ball to the corner at the same distance from the hole as the bell, leaving yourself a reasonably easy approach to the green, with a view of the flag. When playing your third shot aim to the left side of the green to take the hill just short of the green out of play. 2 putts and you have just earned yourself 2 Points, maybe 3, the smile just keeps getting bigger.Just remember, “an easy course management plan is much easier to execute than trying to be the Hero and make the pars and birdies which you see the pros do on TV ”. When things work out as you planned you create momentum, this helps you play with confidence, and we all know how much this can help your game…
